In this case, I\u2019d also recommend removing it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Comfort<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The Perception Hi Life 11.0 has a <strong>great seat height <\/strong>which makes for a perfect paddling position.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The seatback can be <strong>reclined while on the water<\/strong> by using the straps on each side. However, you <strong>can\u2019t adjust it forward or back<\/strong>, and the height isn\u2019t adjustable either.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I also feel like <strong>the seat is pretty uncomfortable if you want to paddle for more than 2 hours<\/strong>. After a long day on the water, my butt starts to hurt and the seatback isn\u2019t tall enough.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Of course, if you\u2019re using it as a SUP then seat comfort won\u2019t be as much of an issue, but still\u2026 they could have done better.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Finally, there are<strong> two little hand mounts <\/strong>at the stern so that you can go for a swim and <strong>get back on the paddleboard <\/strong>very easily.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Stability and Tracking<\/h3>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image is-style-default\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"705\" height=\"487\" src=\"https:\/\/www.happinesswithout.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/PERCEP-11-HI-LIFE-705x487.jpg\" alt=\"Pic of Perception-hi-life-11.0 kayak model\" class=\"wp-image-4728\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.happinesswithout.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/PERCEP-11-HI-LIFE-705x487.jpg 705w, https:\/\/www.happinesswithout.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/PERCEP-11-HI-LIFE-150x104.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.happinesswithout.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/PERCEP-11-HI-LIFE.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 705px) 100vw, 705px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>First of all, the Perception Hi Life 11 is a<strong> very stable kayak<\/strong>, thanks to the Hybrid SUP\u202fdesign.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>People up to 180\u202flb will feel <strong>very comfortable when standing<\/strong>, and it <strong>doesn\u2019t feel tippy at all <\/strong>thanks to the flat bottom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the open ocean, the High Life 11<strong> handles big swells like a champ<\/strong>. I\u2019ve <strong>even surfed with it<\/strong>, that\u2019s how stable it is.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There\u2019s some <strong>deck padding<\/strong> so that you <strong>don\u2019t slip when standing up<\/strong> or sitting down. Overall, for an 11-footer I\u2019m amazed by how stable it is.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By the way, <strong>for people with limited mobility<\/strong>, there\u2019s a <strong>stand-assist strap<\/strong>. And the seat height really helps standing up and sitting down comfortably.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There\u2019s also a <strong>paddle holder behind the seat <\/strong>so you can switch between a SUP\u202fpaddle or a kayak paddle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Finally, the Perception Hi Life 11 <strong>tracks really well even in the wind <\/strong>and in the ocean. This is due to the removable skeg, although remember to take it out in shallow water.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Durability<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>As mentioned before, the Perception High Life 11 is a <strong>very durable kayak\/SUP<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I\u2019d be amazed if you managed to punch a hole through the hull.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And even if you did, the boat is covered by Perception\u2019s<strong> 5-year warranty<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While this<strong> isn\u2019t as good as higher-end <\/strong>kayak warranties (Old Town comes to mind), it\u2019s <strong>pretty standard <\/strong>at this price point (Pelican has the same warranty).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Overall, <strong>I haven\u2019t heard any complaints<\/strong> about parts breaking down, so I\u2019d say it\u2019s a pretty durable kayak.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Portability<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>At only 55 lb and being so short, the Hi-Life 11 is an <strong>incredibly portable boat<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Unlike the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.happinesswithout.com\/jackson-bite-angler-review\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"4493\">Jackson Bite<\/a> (which is another cheap, stable kayak), it\u2019s much easier to <strong>carry on your own if you\u2019re a small girl or guy<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Loading it on top of your SUV should be fairly easy<\/strong> on your own, as the Hybrid design helps make it a lot less bulky than a traditional kayak.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Carrying it to and from the water is easy enough<\/strong>, you won\u2019t need a kayak cart. Please<strong> avoid dragging it<\/strong>, as it has no skid plate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For transportation, it has a screwed-in carry handle at the bow and a molded-in carrying handle at the back. There, you could <strong>easily put a cooler or a pet<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Then you get a medium tankwell storage area at the back, with the \u201cswimming platform\u201d from which you can easily get back on the board.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>I really like the huge storage space under the seat <\/strong>which will fit a <strong>cooler with sandwiches <\/strong>or <strong>tackle trays<\/strong> for you anglers out there. <strong>Remember to put a scupper plug<\/strong> on the hole if you want your gear to stay dry, though.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Finally, there\u2019s a cup holder in front of the kayak and a<strong> gear track <\/strong>right at the center. This is <strong>useful for anglers <\/strong>because they can <strong>mount rod holders, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ontrackfishing.com\/best-gps-fishfinder-combos\/\">a GPS fish finder<\/a>, a GoPro, etc<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For recreational kayakers, the gear track isn\u2019t very useful except to mount a camera or phone holder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Perception Hi Life Kayak Fishing Ease<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>First of all, I want to emphasize the fact that <strong>this is not a fishing kayak<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Hi Life 11 is<strong> made for recreational paddling<\/strong>, which means it <strong>lacks a ton of fishing features<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That said, if you\u2019re more of a recreational angler, then you might not mind the \u201cbare-bones\u201d aspect of this boat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>For a low price, you still get a gear track<\/strong> where you can mount your rod holders, as well as <strong>decent storage space<\/strong> for your fishing gear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>You won\u2019t be able to fit a milk crate in the back <\/strong>as is, you\u2019ll have to do some mods or else it can easily slip into the water.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It has <strong>no rod holders,<\/strong> but the included<strong> paddle holder <\/strong>does help when you\u2019re fishing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Who is the Perception Hi Life 11 suited for?<\/h2>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image is-style-default\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"705\" a SUP, or even to stand and cast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s very lightweight, which makes it <strong>perfect for small guys and girls <\/strong>so they can carry it on their own.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There\u2019s decent storage space to bring a pet, but the small weight capacity makes it <strong>unusable for big guys<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Overall, at this price point, features<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s <strong>not a hybrid <\/strong>kayak\/SUP, but it still has<strong> tons of open space<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can <strong>comfortably stand and cast<\/strong>, and the<strong> huge deck<\/strong> is perfect to move around and put big fish.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It has a medium tankwell storage area at the front with a <strong>paddle holder,<\/strong> as well as a universal <strong>transducer mount<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It has<strong> two gear tracks <\/strong>on the sides, which IMHO\u202fis more practical than the center gear track on the Hi Life 11.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Finally, you get the same comfortable sitting height with lots of space underneath to put a small cooler.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are lots of <strong>pockets on the sides to put tackle trays<\/strong> and soft plastics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Combined with the <strong>large rear tankwell that can fit a milk crate<\/strong>, you get <strong>four flush-mounted rod holders<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Overall, the Outlaw 11.5 <strong>costs about the same<\/strong> as the Hi Life, and you<strong> sacrifice the hybrid SUP design to get tons of fishing features<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Pelican Getaway 110 HDII<\/h3>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image is-style-default\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img SUP\/kayak, but being able to pedal means you\u2019ll go<strong> much faster<\/strong> and you will <strong>never get tired<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Regarding storage, it\u2019s fairly similar with the front and rear tankwell areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Small guys and girls will have no problem standing up<\/strong>, but the Getaway <strong>isn\u2019t made for big guys weight capacity<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>For big guys<\/strong>, the Maverick 120\u202fis the <strong>perfect alternative<\/strong> to the Hi Life 11.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Also, if you want to<strong> paddle with<\/strong> <strong>your kid<\/strong>, <strong>spouse, <\/strong>or <strong>pet<\/strong>, the Maverick will give great stability and you\u2019ll have tons of fun on the water.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s an incredibly <a href=\"https:\/\/www.happinesswithout.com\/most-stable-fishing-kayak\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"2471\">stable kayak<\/a><strong> <\/strong>thanks to the wide design and the foam-injected hull. <strong>For fishing<\/strong>, if <strong>anything drops it won\u2019t make noise<\/strong> and you will not scare the fish.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The Vibe \u201cHero seat\u201d is one of the most comfortable seats<\/strong> on the market, which makes the Maverick so much better if you plan to paddle for a full day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The downside is it\u2019s quite heavier at 72\u202flb, which immediately makes it <strong>much harder to load and carry for small guys and women<\/strong>. You\u2019ll probably need help, as well as a kayak cart to get it to and from the water.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Apart from that, you also get gear tracks on each side as well as another one in the front, and two in the back for<strong> amazing customization options<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There\u2019s a <strong>dry hatch in the middle<\/strong> which isn\u2019t completely waterproof, I generally get water in there right when I open it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They include a <strong>free paddle<\/strong>, but at around $900\u202fit\u2019s <strong>slightly more expensive<\/strong> than the Hi Life 11.0.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Finally, it has great fishability and stability<strong> for skinny water<\/strong> as there\u2019s no skeg sticking out. It does have very short molded-in skegs to help with tracking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Piece of advice<\/strong>: if you decide to get the Maverick, I\u2019d suggest sealing the little areas where they\u2019ve injected the foam inside the kayak.
